A Little Spontaneity Never Hurt Anybody

Here I sit in the airport waiting to board a flight to somewhere I’ve been dying to go to since I was twelve. The question I ask myself is how the hell did I get here?

I guess it all started three weeks ago when I was offered a new position and made the choice to leave my current job. After discussing with my fiancé John, he brought up that this was a great opportunity to go on a short trip to celebrate and he conveniently also had a day to spare. So here I sit, with a boarding pass in hand, and hardly any concrete plans for what we will do and I’m so excited!!!

This is exactly what I love about us, that we have these insane ideas and we embrace each other’s craziness. When we first discussed a trip, my suggestion was Seattle while John’s was a ridiculous flight that had two 12-hour layovers and we wouldn’t ever even be in a hotel. So I feel that we compromised (and we also found a sweet deal). I can only hope that everyone finds someone that is willing to do this kind of thing with them.

My other favorite part about a spontaneous trip is that I have no idea what’s in store. Last time we went to Boston and spent 5 hours in a brewery eating huge soft pretzels and downing more beers than I can count. If you know anything about me, I’m a planner who can’t help but organize every single thing I am going to do for the next 5 years. So it takes a lot for me to go on a quick trip like this but it also keeps my life interesting!

So where are we going you ask? You’ll just have to wait to find out 🙂
