Christmas Village & Shopping in Philadelphia!

Most people know I live very close to Philadelphia (and used to work in Center City) so on my day off I decided to do some wandering closer to home. I had a chance to catch up with some old coworkers and work on my photography skills (which are on the very beginner level). Christmas time in Philadelphia is so magical and they always do such a great job with the village and activities. If you live in the area and haven’t made it to the Christmas village, I definitely suggest a last minute trip or planning to go next year! They have ice skating, a maze (which was new this year), a carousel, huge Christmas tree, and so many shops.

I absolutely love walking through the shops because they remind me of Christmas markets in Germany and Europe! This Christmas village has a very German feel and most of the food options are of German origin. First, I indulged in bacon waffles with Nutella to dip in (OMG it was delicious)

Still working on my photoshop skills so I couldn’t take this guy out of my photo LOL

The shops are all over the place and are a great way to shop local for gifts. There are shops with jewelry, sweets, ornaments, clothing, art, and all kinds of stuff! Prices seem pretty fair and each little storefront has different things! I definitely wandered for an hour+ and I could stayed for even longer.

Then I stopped for a bratwurst which was literally delicious. If you make it to the Christmas village in the future you can’t skip out on the German food because it really makes for a unique experience.

If you are looking for some additional local shopping, my absolute favorite places to go near there are all on 13th street. Check out Open House at 107 S. 13th Street. They have so many Philly themed gifts, as well as beautiful jewelry, cute things for decorating your house, and also creative and funny things for any gag gifts you might need!

Another favorite of mine is across the street at Verde,(108 S. 13th street) which shares its store front with a chocolate store so of course it smells scrumptious at all times. They have really stylish accessories and perfect gifts for all everyone.

A few blocks down on S 13th is Lou Lou Boutique which is less local but has really adorable and affordable accessories and gifts. Their scarfs are all so nice and I usually can’t make it out the door without buying a new one. This is the closest Lou Lou so you should definitely check it out for some unique buys!

The best part about 13th street too is the food options if you need a break from shopping. My top recommendations are guacamole at El Vez or a burger at Barbuzzo. You really can’t go wrong with either of these restaurants. Don’t forget to top it off with some gelato from Capogiro which was named the number one ice cream spot in the WORLD by National Geographic. They change flavors all of the time but my favorites are the hazelnut and creme brûlée!

Happy Holidays 🙂
